Worked on all kinds of stuff getting ready for some seriously needed vacation time. Designed some new shirts, printed them and took some pics of Mike, Lindsey and Rina B. Got some inventory counted and dropped off shirts to Circle Boutique, Simply Home and Meeps.
Scored some tickets to the MGMT Show at the 930 Club. Chilled in the back most of the time. Didn’t chill during “Electric Feel”, “baby girl”. Was that 15 min. song really necessary??? Once again the iPhone has disappointed me.
San Fran was awesome once again. Ok I really can’t live there but it’s a nice place to visit. Ate like oinker and chilled like a mug. (Thank you Phil!) Def have to say I’m inspired.
It’s 411pm and I still dont’ know if I’ve been accepted into Crafty Bastards Arts and Crafts Fair. I am crafty. Some would say I’m a bastard. What the hell? This is killing me!
Booooooo! It’s 418pm. K.INC was NOT accepted into the Bastard Fair. Can’t say that I’m not a little disappointed and I could say something like, “For every door that closes, Another door opens”, but that would be kinda lame. Hmmm, well this F-ing sucks.
Will definitely check Crafty Bastards this year. Who know? I might learn a thing or two. GROSS!
Every year I tell myself I’m going to apply and make my presence known at the Washington City Paper’s Crafty Bastards Arts and Craft Fair. Every year I don’t apply and make my presence known, at least there. There was a half ass attempt a couple of years ago but it was denied right off because there were no images. I couldn’t even go to the outdoor event even though it’s right around the corner. Not because I was working, my friend. The guilt is too much for me to handle especially in public.
Well today, folks, the application is completed and the images have been uploaded. I’ve confronted my slack ass (it is as painful as that sounds BTW) and I HAVE WON!
Now the waiting game. All applications are due today, July 17th, by midnight. Everyone will be notified as to whether they were accepted or not accepted by July 25th. That’s a week from now and I’m going to not freak myself out but I probably will. Stay tuned!
So THANK YOU Circle Boutique for buying the new shirts. If you’re in the DC, be sure to stop by and check out the new stuff. Don’t just check the KINC though, Circle owners Dinah and Rosana know what’s up with fashion and carry all kinds of fresh clothes from local and international designers.
I still can’t figure out how to link to iTunes and I still haven’t figured out how wrap the world in the softest, best looking shirt ever. Here’s what I’ve been listening to though.

Magic Doors :: Portishead :: Third

Finally, I went back to my studio this weekend. It was super cold and the black ink is dried because I forgot to close the lid (again). WTF? Ink is not cheap. Probably wouldn’t have been so bad had I, you know, go to the studio with some regularity…
Was asked to volunteer my services to the Cherry Fund. The foundation raises money for HIV/AIDS with a series of dance parties throughout the course of a weekend, April 17-20th. I designed some shirts for them, but decided to offer my designer services in other ways. In addition to the shirts, there’s the newspaper and magazine ads; the postcards and the web banners; as well as any marketing advice I had to offer.
So now I’m trying to break the cycle of slacker-dom. Spring is a coming and I gotta get it together. Basically learn from the mistakes I made last year, like not having tank tops ready for sale until September or buying too many blanks just because they’re on sale.
So there I was at my local H&M listening to some super sassy queens talk about how much they love, love, love the new/old Amy Winehouse album, Frank.
What tripped me out was that they thought it was better than the new album, Back to Black ??? Really?….Really??? They both have their merits but to actually claim that Frank is better than B2B struck a nerve. I, then, yelled, “WHAT? Are you crazy?”, jumped across the table and shoved my bag (ha ha ha - “My bag”) down his throat while “Some Unholy War” played in the background.
“Just sign here, please.” RIGHT! So Frank is a really great album and Winehouse is totally showcasin’ that heavenly voice but that’s really all the album does, play up her voice. The rest seems like an afterthought … Light, no backbone. Can I get some bass?
B2B is very much an outgrowth of the UK only release. Damn that voice is undeniable! The album is gritty, grimey and isn’t so, so trying to be clean cut, bubble gum. Her voice is working with the hip-hop influences of the Mark Ronson, instead of sitting above the instrumentation sounding pretty.
So I didn’t mention any of this. The line was long and I was grumpy because they were concentrating on “Amy, Amy, Amy” and not on the long ass line. So, NO!
I’m all about the random vest + (K.INC) tshirt combo = SUPERAwesomeKillerFresh style. Some of you may have seen me rock the look this week at the JRs Xmas Party. Sorry my peeps, no pics as of yet. Winky, wink.
Seriously though I’m all about this look. You can do it up with some jeans & a tee and be on point or you can class up some slacks and a button down.
