Checking In
Saturday, January 17th, 2009So here we are, a new one and I’ve decided to check back into the blog, shirts and more.
It’s not like I haven’t been busy. I’ve been consulting with Circle Boutique for the past 6 months and am on my way to being a partner at the store. Yes I decided a brick and mortar store should be the next move for me. Go figure. Working on store layout, painting, merchandising and display. Circle was the first place to buy my shirts. Now vendors are talking to me. It’s been a great and crazy experience so far and I’m sure it will only get better. Oddly enough my involvement with Circle has forced me to be even more creative, something I would not have expected from the start.
It’s inauguration weekend and things are supposed to get crazy. Millions of people, more traffic, bridge closures, super cold weather and motorcade after motorcade. So just in time for the Inauguration of Barack Obama I’ve created the Believer Shirt. It’s printed on American Apparel White cotton tees with a super graphic of our next president in red and blue.
So the challenging part is keeping up with all the tasks at hand while adding another responsibility to my plate. The advantage of entering into a partnership is having a business partner to help a brother out and kick me in the ass if need be. So Dinah and Wayne, I’m thanking you in advance. Blogging will definitely be one of those things that I’ll be sure to put to the fore. No more months of silence. Although I enjoy the silence, I’m not going to last very long, given the harsh economic situation among other things, should I keep quiet.
RECAP
Tuesday, August 26th, 2008So I’m back again. What’s up all? What’s good?
Worked on all kinds of stuff getting ready for some seriously needed vacation time. Designed some new shirts, printed them and took some pics of Mike, Lindsey and Rina B. Got some inventory counted and dropped off shirts to Circle Boutique, Simply Home and Meeps.
Scored some tickets to the MGMT Show at the 930 Club. Chilled in the back most of the time. Didn’t chill during “Electric Feel”, “baby girl”. Was that 15 min. song really necessary??? Once again the iPhone has disappointed me.
San Fran was awesome once again. Ok I really can’t live there but it’s a nice place to visit. Ate like oinker and chilled like a mug. (Thank you Phil!) Def have to say I’m inspired.
Now if I can get motivated.
August Email
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008AAAAAAAAARRGHHH!
Friday, July 25th, 2008It’s 411pm and I still dont’ know if I’ve been accepted into Crafty Bastards Arts and Crafts Fair. I am crafty. Some would say I’m a bastard. What the hell? This is killing me!
Booooooo! It’s 418pm. K.INC was NOT accepted into the Bastard Fair. Can’t say that I’m not a little disappointed and I could say something like, “For every door that closes, Another door opens”, but that would be kinda lame. Hmmm, well this F-ing sucks.
Will definitely check Crafty Bastards this year. Who know? I might learn a thing or two. GROSS!
K.INC Gets Crafty
Thursday, July 17th, 2008Every year I tell myself I’m going to apply and make my presence known at the Washington City Paper’s Crafty Bastards Arts and Craft Fair. Every year I don’t apply and make my presence known, at least there. There was a half ass attempt a couple of years ago but it was denied right off because there were no images. I couldn’t even go to the outdoor event even though it’s right around the corner. Not because I was working, my friend. The guilt is too much for me to handle especially in public.
Well today, folks, the application is completed and the images have been uploaded. I’ve confronted my slack ass (it is as painful as that sounds BTW) and I HAVE WON!
Now the waiting game. All applications are due today, July 17th, by midnight. Everyone will be notified as to whether they were accepted or not accepted by July 25th. That’s a week from now and I’m going to not freak myself out but I probably will. Stay tuned!
New Designs
Friday, May 16th, 2008So THANK YOU Circle Boutique for buying the new shirts. If you’re in the DC, be sure to stop by and check out the new stuff. Don’t just check the KINC though, Circle owners Dinah and Rosana know what’s up with fashion and carry all kinds of fresh clothes from local and international designers.
Now it’s back to the printing board.
Dried Ink or Why Am I Such A Slacker?
Tuesday, February 19th, 2008Finally, I went back to my studio this weekend. It was super cold and the black ink is dried because I forgot to close the lid (again). WTF? Ink is not cheap. Probably wouldn’t have been so bad had I, you know, go to the studio with some regularity…
Was asked to volunteer my services to the Cherry Fund. The foundation raises money for HIV/AIDS with a series of dance parties throughout the course of a weekend, April 17-20th. I designed some shirts for them, but decided to offer my designer services in other ways. In addition to the shirts, there’s the newspaper and magazine ads; the postcards and the web banners; as well as any marketing advice I had to offer.
So now I’m trying to break the cycle of slacker-dom. Spring is a coming and I gotta get it together. Basically learn from the mistakes I made last year, like not having tank tops ready for sale until September or buying too many blanks just because they’re on sale.
Here I go, chicas and gentlemen. Here I go.
WTF??? - IP Addresses
Wednesday, December 5th, 2007Finally I’m back in the mix.
I get a little flaky from time to time. That means I forget passwords (…my car keys, my car, the last time I went to my studio.) Does that mean my IP address gets blocked from my server?
YES! ARGGHHHH!
Well now that that’s taken care of and I’ve come out of my turkey coma I guess I can get back to work. Really wanna start working on paper but feel like I should kick out some hoodies or long sleeved numbers??? Maybe I’m not on the correct cycle for stores/customers to buy shirts? Or will the holiday season knock me on my ass? Always full of questions (or poop?).
STAY TUNED…
Support Local Business or My New Favorite Shoes
Friday, November 2nd, 2007I know I’m not supposed to feel this way but I love my shoes! It’s kinda superficial but they make me really happy, giddy even. They’re loud and obnoxious. LOL. I feel like I got candy on my feet. So I had to cop a pair. All about the zapatos!

My fresh pair are from a fresh store in Georgetown, Washington, DC, called MAJOR. The thing is they are so not Gtown and that’s what I like about them. There are boxes all over the place, full of random shoes, boxes in front of rows of shoes, and random graphic shirts from random companies. That’s not going to appeal to everyone, especially if ur all about minimalist displays and pretentious salespeople. What they have going for them is their down-home approach and the super friendly staff.
Let’s not forget the happening gear though. The streetwear they offer is on the urban tip and from well known brands like Nike and Adidas, and relatively unheard of brands like Addict and Creative Recreation. They are some of the major reasons to visit Major.
